LAPD shoots, kills domestic violence suspect during altercation in San Pedro, police say

SAN PEDRO, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A suspect was shot and killed by Los Angeles police during a physical altercation with officers Wednesday night in San Pedro, authorities said.

Officers responded to a domestic violence call shortly before 9:30 p.m. in the 500 block of West 37th Street, just west of Pacific Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The officers were dispatched to an apartment regarding a report of an individual allegedly violating a restraining order, police said.

When they arrived, they made contact with the suspect and tried to detain him but a physical altercation ensued. That's when shots were fired.

The suspect was struck by gunfire and taken to a hospital where he later died.



Two officers were taken to a hospital after suffering minor injuries during the altercation, the LAPD said.

No other details were immediately available.
