FULLERTON, Calif. (KABC) -- Hundreds of people gathered on Wednesday to honor a beloved soccer player at California State University, Fullerton who died weeks after she was injured in an off-campus e-scooter crash.

A candlelight vigil was held at Titan Stadium for Lauren Turner, who was a sophomore and member of the Titans women's soccer team. She died last Friday after spending nearly six weeks in the ICU.

Turner was riding an e-scooter with a teammate in late September when they were both hit by a box truck.

Turner was a talented athlete who played a key role in the Titans unbeaten start to the 2025 season. Those who knew her said she was a funny and loving person.

"A beautiful young lady, a twin, 19 years of age," said family friend Nick Kokkinos. "She participated in our community, playing basketball, and other activities ... Sunday school, and ... tragedy struck."

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Meantime, Turner's teammate is still recovering.
