The shooting happened around 9 p.m. Monday in the area of 49th Street and Long Beach Boulevard, according to the city's police department.
It's unclear what led up to the shooting, but authorities said a man opened fire and shot three men before taking off.
One of the victims, who has not been identified, died at the scene. The two other victims are expected to survive.
Police have not released a description of the gunman. An arrest has not been made.
