Carlos Gascon was staying with his girlfriend on Summerland Key when, according to the victim, he became angry after having a dream about her cheating. The unidentified woman told investigators Gascon was so enraged he beat her all day and threatened her life.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, the victim said Gascon cut the back of her leg with a knife, poured hot coffee on her, choked her, held a knife to her throat and threatened to kill her. He also reportedly picked her up and slammed her down on a glass table, breaking it.
The victim told authorities Gascon also beat her dog. She said he picked up the dog, slammed it on the ground and then put his foot on its neck.
The victim said she couldn't call for help or get away because she believed Gascon threw her cellphone and car keys in a canal behind the house.
She was finally able to call for help at around 6:45 p.m. after Gascon passed out. He was then arrested and charged with aggravated battery, aggravated assault, domestic battery by strangulation, battery, false imprisonment and animal cruelty.
