Man arrested in murder of 68-year-old woman found in Long Beach home

LONG BEACH, Calif. (KABC) -- A 32-year-old man was booked for murder after a 68-year-old woman was found stabbed to death at a Long Beach residence, police said Sunday.

Officers were dispatched to assist Long Beach fire officials with the woman found in the 1100 block of Locust Avenue shortly before 1 p.m. Saturday, Long Beach police said.

Arriving officers found the victim, identified as Margarita Valdez Castro, who sustained a stab wound to the torso.

Luis Antonio Jimenez Molina, a Long Beach resident, was booked for murder and held in the Long Beach City Jail with bail set at $2 million.

Police said the crime did not appear to be random, but a motive for the stabbing was unknown.



The investigation was ongoing, according to Long Beach police.
