ANAHEIM, Calif. (KABC) -- A man is dead after being shot by police officers in Anaheim overnight.

The Anaheim Police Department says two officers were patrolling the 800 block of Philadelphia Street just after 9:30 p.m. Saturday when they came across several people in front of a home.

That's when an interaction between officers and people in the group escalated to a confrontation, the department said. A man, about 19 years old, was shot and killed by police.

Right after the shooting, an agitated crowd started to form, police said. Another person was struck with a non-lethal round and taken to the hospital in stable condition.

The officer involved in the initial shooting suffered minor injuries, and more than a dozen people were detained, according to police.

"After the shooting, there was quite a bit of chaos and a big disturbance," said Lt. Matt Sutter. "More than a dozen subjects were detained from that house where the shooting occurred."

Investigators say a firearm was found at the scene.

The entire incident is now under investigation.
