Footage from Aug. 4 shows the large cat strolling right past the man.
"Right as it came around the corner, I saw it and I just tried to stay still... and it went right past me. It didn't seem to pay any attention to me, really."
The man was camping with his children and became concerned because the mountain lion ran toward the campground. Fortunately, their paths didn't cross.
California State Parks confirmed that there were no attacks or injuries related to the encounter. Park officials say visitors should remain calm and back away slowly if you encounter a mountain lion.
