LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A memorial is growing for a 9-year-old boy who was hit and killed by a DUI suspect in Koreatown.

Nadir Gavarrete and his older brother were riding an e-scooter last week when they were struck by an RV near the intersection of South New Hampshire Avenue and 4th Street. His 19-year-old brother, Carlos Gavarrete, was injured in the crash and is still in the hospital.

The RV driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Over the weekend, community members came out to the growing makeshift memorial of flowers and balloons to show their support for the grieving family.

The family has set up a GoFundMe page to help cover funeral expenses for Nadir and his brother's medical bills.
