After asking Meta, the parent company of those apps, for comment, we now have one.
This week, we have heard from a variety of people -- from a pediatric ICU nurse to a wedding planner, who have had their accounts suspended for not following Meta's "Community Standards on child sexual exploitation, abuse and nudity."
While they have told us they don't understand the suspensions, on Friday, a Meta spokesperson sent us this statement:
"We take action on accounts that violate our policies, and people can appeal if they think we've made a mistake."
The company also tells us it is using both technology and people to find and remove accounts breaking the rules.
Meta also says no system is perfect, so it gives users the ability to appeal decisions if they think their accounts were wrongfully disabled.
And finally, we were told there's been no evidence of a significant increase in incorrect enforcement of rules.
Meanwhile, the accounts we have profiled remain suspended.
