Bomb squad investigates after piece of military ordnance found on 405 Fwy in Inglewood

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (KABC) -- Several lanes of the 405 Freeway were briefly shut down after what was described as a piece of military ordnance was found on the freeway in Inglewood Friday morning.

The incident was reported around 10 a.m. at Century Boulevard on northbound lanes, according to the California Highway Patrol. The Los Angeles County Fire Department and bomb squad were called to investigate.

Details about the item that was found, and the circumstances that led up to its discovery, were not available. The freeway on-ramp and the collector road were also closed.

All lanes reopened by noon, the CHP said.
