The footage, recorded at a Big Sav store in the 1500 block of Glenoaks Boulevard in 2023, seems to show Calese Crowder in a squatting position behind the unsuspecting woman while she is stocking shelves.
Crowder was arrested by Glendale police on Aug. 28 after witnesses reported seeing him at the same Big Sav, approaching customers and employees and crouching down near them.
"I know he's harmless, but it's a weird fetish," store manager Jimmy Koh said in an interview last week.
Koh said it was the third time the man had engaged in similar behavior at the store.
"Crouching down like he normally would, and he'll just look around and try to take the chance to sniff like any woman's butt," Koh told ABC7. "The first time I caught him, I was like, what is this guy doing? He looks creepy."
Police said officers were also dispatched to a Marshalls store near South Brand Boulevard and East Broadway regarding a similar incident, prompting them to review surveillance footage from the businesses.
Police were able to identify Crowder in the footage, and he was eventually located in the 100 block of South Brand Boulevard.
Man charged in multiple SoCal 'butt sniffing' incidents arrested again
Crowder was arrested for violating the terms of his parole. He was being held without bail.
Crowder was re-arrested in August 2025 after reports of yet another sniffing incident at a Walgreens store in Burbank.
Crowder was already on parole at the time and has a documented history of similar arrests for lewd conduct in both Glendale and Burbank -- dating back to 2021.
He admitted to violating his parole last year and was sentenced to serve more than 100 days in jail.
