RIVERSIDE, Calif. (KABC) -- About 3,000 Riverside Public Utilities customers are without power due to strong wind and rain that hit the area just before 4 p.m. Friday.

Twelve power lines in the area of Colette and Pierce were down following a suspected microburst.

The brief but fierce storm dumped nearly a quarter-inch of rain in five minutes in La Canada Flintridge, the National Weather Service reported.
