DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- In states all across the country, Saturday was a national day of action for families who are pushing back against President Donald Trump's "One Big Beautiful Bill," with a focus on "families first."

At the Los Angeles rally, organizers said they consider it a mass effort to organize against policies they believe are hurting Black and brown families.

At Grand Park in Downtown L.A., union members from Service Employees International Union (SEIU) 1983 led the community in a rally called "Families First" on Saturday.

The protesters said they are speaking out against the Trump administration's immigration policies.

For more than a month, ICE raids and immigrant deportations in L.A. have dominated headlines.

Demonstrators also demanded relief from lawmakers' approval of Trump's "One Big Beautiful Bill." They believe it will harm working-class families of every race and want the budget repealed.

"Emergency rooms will close. Our hospitals and our nursing homes will be more short-staffed than ever before. Working folks and families in need will go hungry, and our immigrant neighbors, our immigrant family members, will continue to be snatched away from their homes and workplaces because these cuts aren't just about money," one participant said. "They are about spreading fear and division, and to have more control over people like us."

There was also a "Families First" rally outside City Hall in Riverside on Saturday.

The White House disagrees with demonstrators' perception of the bill. The administration says the budget bill will provide historic investments, especially toward rural healthcare. The president's team says part of the budget will provide $50 billion over five years to improve access.

There were at least 10 "Families First" rallies across California on Saturday.
