REDONDO BEACH, Calif. (KABC) -- A stretch of Redondo Beach is back open after a shark was spotted just south of the pier on Monday.

According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, the shark was seen eating a sea lion on Monday afternoon.

The shark spotting forced the beach to shut down for about a mile in each direction.

The beach reopened around 7 p.m. after no more shark activity was reported.

Lifeguards said they were going to keep an eye on the water on Tuesday.
