HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- After the 2023 strike that shut down nearly all Hollywood production for months -- it was a much different story when it came time to negotiate this time around.

On Saturday, SAG-AFTRA and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) reached a tentative contract deal.

Negotiations began in early February and wrapped up on Saturday.

The agreement covers movies, scripted TV shows, streaming content and new media.

The deal still needs to be approved by SAG-AFTRA's National Board, which will meet in the coming days to review the terms.

Last month, Writers Guild of America members ratified their new four-year contract.

Back in 2023, the two unions launched joint, monthslong strikes, holding out for AI protections and better pay.
