SAN DIEGO (KABC) -- The San Diego Zoo Safari Park welcomed four male cheetah cubs to the Ultimate Safari on March 9. The brothers were born on Jan. 24, 2026, to first-time mother Kelechi.

The brothers have started getting bolder and exploring their surroundings under their mother's watchful eye.

The cubs spent their first few weeks bonding with Kelechi in a private den at the Carnivore Conservation Center.

They are the first cheetah cubs born at the park since 2020.

Most feline species tend to be solitary, but the cubs will form a "coalition," or a group that will hunt and travel together for life.

The zoo says these cubs play a crucial role in the genetic diversity of cheetahs worldwide, making sure the cheetah population is supported.
