The incident happened around 6:30 p.m. Monday. Officers for the Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway (BNSF) were fired upon by suspects trying to steal from the train in San Bernardino County, the railway confirmed.
No officers were hurt, nor were any crew members on the train.
The railway did not provide any more specifics, including what those burglars might have been after.
No arrests have been made.
