SOUTH LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- The driver of a stolen Infiniti sedan crashed into a dozen vehicles parked on the street in South Los Angeles while fleeing a street takeover, police say.

The driver was taken into custody, but now the owners of all those vehicles are having to deal with their insurance to help pay for the extensive damage.

It happened when LAPD officers showed up to break up a street takeover at the intersection of South San Pedro Street and Colden Avenue early Monday morning.

The Infiniti driver fled the officers and lost control, smashing into about a dozen cars on the street.

Among those owners is Carlos Quintano. His Honda and his granddaughter's Mini Cooper were both seriously damaged.

He's not sure yet if he'll be covered.

"I have to wait to see what insurance says about it," Quintano says. "You know, I already made a report and the police make a report so I just have to wait and see what happens.

Some neighbors on the street say they aren't surprised by the incident.

"It's not surprising that there's stuff going on all the time," says Dulce Castelan. "It's really heartbreaking."
