Streets closed for SWAT standoff with restraining order suspect in Boyle Heights neighborhood

BOYLE HEIGHTS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A Boyle Heights neighborhood is on lockdown due to an hourslong SWAT standoff unfolding on Saturday night.

Video from the Citizen App shows several streets blocked off by Los Angeles Police Department patrol units and SWAT BearCats.

Several Eyewitness News viewers reached out about the large police presence on Wabash Avenue.

LAPD said it all started just after 5 p.m. on Saturday when a 26-year-old man barricaded himself inside an apartment and refused to come out.

Police described the man as a restraining order suspect. He is reportedly refusing to come outside and refusing all officer commands.



SWAT was called to the scene.
