LUCERNE VALLEY, Calif. (KABC) -- The high desert area was under a flash flood warning Wednesday as thunderstorms swept through the Southland.

A summer monsoon brought rain, thunder, lightning and high humidity. The lightning strikes caused dangerous conditions for local residents, and crews attempted to clear mud from Highway 18 in Lucerne Valley.
