Robbery suspect barricades self inside Long Beach 7-Eleven for 12 hours before standoff ends

LONG BEACH, Calif. (KABC) -- A standoff between a robbery suspect and police apparently ended Tuesday afternoon, about 12 hours after it began at a 7-Eleven in Long Beach, but details about how the incident was resolved were not immediately available.

The incident started around 2 a.m. on Pine Avenue at Broadway after officers were alerted about a person with a gun, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

Investigators believe the man robbed the store before employees were able to run out and flag down officers.

The suspect stayed inside the store and refused to surrender to authorities.

At least two SWAT armored vehicle was seen outside the convenience store. The standoff had apparently ended by 4 p.m. but police did not immediately respond to ABC7's request for an update on the matter.



Several streets in the area were closed due to the police activity during the barricade situation.
