It all started Tuesday morning when officers conducted a traffic stop on Western Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard in the Hollywood area.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the suspect rammed his car into the patrol units and a chase ensued. It's unclear what prompted the initial traffic stop.
During the pursuit, the suspect made his way onto the northbound 101 Freeway before getting off at Tampa Avenue in the Tarzana area.
Authorities believed he ran into a house at Hatteras Street and Calvin Avenue, prompting several LAPD vehicles to surround the property, after leaving his vehicle in a driveway.
A short time later, police expanded the search to the wider neighborhood over concerns that he was not in the home as initially thought.
The suspect, only described as being in his 50s, was eventually taken into custody around 6:30 a.m.
