Suspected drunk driver slams into Rosemead building

ROSEMEAD, Calif. (KABC) -- A suspected drunk driver crashed into a building in Rosemead, injuring two people inside, and then tried to flee the scene.

The crash occurred near Garvey and Willard avenues shortly past 5 a.m. The white four-door Honda Accord went completely through the front portion of the structure, coming out on the other side of the back wall.

The car struck five people. One of the victims was seriously injured and transported to an area hospital. Another victim sustained minor injuries.

A short while later, deputies responded to the 2600 block of Stingle Avenue regarding a call about a man threatening to commit suicide. When deputies arrived, they realized the man matched the description of the hit-and-run suspect.

The suspect, identified as 23-year-old Victor Hernandez, was arrested for felony hit-and-run and driving under the influence. He was being held in lieu of $150,000.

Hernandez was also injured in the crash and transported to a local hospital.
