"My life story is like American dreams," Mike Sadighi said. "Started from parking attendant, now I'm owner of the Teru Sushi."
Teru Sushi opened its doors in 1979. Back then, Sadighi worked as a valet.
Today, the iconic Japanese restaurant on Ventura Boulevard remains a hot spot in the valley for foodies craving the freshest fish at fair prices.
"Here we have best fresh fish every day," Sadighi said. "We are busy seven days a week, and we've been supported by three generations."
It's a big restaurant with beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces.
Japanese artwork original to its opening is showcased throughout, and the menu keeps customers coming back.
Their Sexy Roll is a best seller, featuring shrimp tempura, real crab meat, albacore and avocado.
Plates and plates of sashimi, big pieces of crispy rice topped with spicy tuna, and Wagyu torched to perfection.
If your mind and taste buds are open to it, order a sampler platter and try the black truffle octopus.
I saw caviar and went for that one.
Teru Sushi is open seven days a week for dinner. Many items are half off during happy hour, Monday through Friday, 5-6 p.m.
Thanks to these talented chefs and the community, Sadighi said Teru Sushi continues to shine.
"We are very lucky to be in business in the city," he said. "It's one of the best areas in Los Angeles."
Walk-ins are accepted, but reservations are encouraged on weekends. You can make a reservation on OpenTable.
Teru Sushi is at 11940 Ventura Blvd, in Studio City.
