I am loving this Friday's submission, as I take you with me to Uncle Mac's, a seafood restaurant in Gardena's Tozai Plaza.
"The love comes out in the food," owner Kathleen David said.
The restaurant is a tribute to the owner's lifelong friend, Mac, who passed away in 2015.
Mac loved food, his family and the city of Gardena that raised him.
"He's so loyal to Gardena that we wanted to kind of pay tribute to him as much we can," owner Charles David said.
Opening just last year, Uncle Mac's is a fresh catch in its South Bay community, offering so many delicious seafood dishes, starting with the bestselling Uncle Mac's fish burger.
Battered Alaskan cod, American cheese, tartar sauce, and pickles on a potato bun. It was perfect.
"This is my favorite," ABC7's Rachel Brown said, between bites. "You asked what my favorite was, and now I found my favorite."
The shrimp burger is also amazing. Catfish plates, clam chowder and grilled fish options, too, like the salmon and pasta, and the shrimp and garlic noodles.
Don't leave without grabbing a fish taco, each named after one of Mac's closest friends.
A low-key restaurant, bringing out Gardena's most loyal customers just as Mac would have liked it.
"I feel very fortunate, we feel fortunate," Kathleen David said. "A great opportunity and a blessing for us."
Uncle Mac's opens at 11 a.m., six days a week, and is closed on Monday.
The restaurant is at 15490 S Western Ave., in Gardena.
Thank you, Saied Guadri, for the submission.
