THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (KABC) -- At least 16 people were hurt following a two-vehicle collision involving a passenger van and a semi-truck on the northbound 101 Freeway in Thousand Oaks Thursday.
Ventura County firefighters responded to the collision near Lynn Road around 2:15 p.m.
CHP investigators say it appears the passenger van blew a tire, causing the driver to lose control, travel sideways into the center divider, collide with the semi-truck and flip over.
Six ambulances, two fire engines, one truck company, one paramedic squad and one battalion chief responded to the scene.
Eleven patients were transported to a local hospital and five patients were treated at the scene, according to the Ventura County Fire Department. The extent of their injuries remains unknown.
