VAN NUYS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- The Van Nuys man who was arrested after blasting horns and alarms from his home for months was released Thursday, and he has a message for police.

Gary Boyadzhayan was taken into custody Wednesday night and was cited for creating a public disturbance and failure to follow an officer's directions. He was released the Thursday morning, right before officers kicked in his front door and confiscated his sirens.

LAPD arrests Van Nuys man who repeatedly blasted horns, alarms from home

"We seized 10 horns," said Los Angeles Police Capt. Christopher Zine. "They look like train horns being run by a compressor."

Neighbors had been complaining about Boyadzhayan's ear-piercing horns since June.

They say he would set them off for several minutes in the afternoon, but power them down before police could arrive.

"It is a train's air horn that has a reach of three and a half miles," said neighbor Robert Donovan.

Boyadzhayan said his blaring of the horns is a "cry for help" for LAPD, telling an unsubstantiated story of a mobster trying to kill him while the police department assists in the plot.

Neighbors believe Boyadzhayan has mental health problems, saying the 50-year-old has lived in the Van Nuys home for more than 20 years, but only recently has shown signs of odd behavior.

"He says he needs help, but he never says what kind of help," Donovan said. "I don't look at him as a bad guy, I look at him as a good guy doing bad things."

After being released, Boyadzhyan slammed his arrest as unfair and a waste of taxpayer money.

"They arrested me for blowing a horn!" he said. "Did you see how many of them showed up at my house yesterday like I'm a [expletive] criminal?"

Even though the police have confiscated his horns, Boyadzhayan vows to keep making noise.

"Yes, I'm going to keep on blowing," he said. "I want justice served."
