The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner identified her as Briana Miller. Carnival Cruise Line officials said she fell from the balcony early Monday morning aboard the Carnival Firenze.
"The female guest was traveling with family who alerted the ship's crew of the situation,'' Carnival officials said in a statement earlier this week.
The Carnival Firenze, an approximately 1,000-foot ship, was on a cruise that originated in Long Beach, with stops at Catalina Island and Ensenada, Mexico.
The circumstances of her fall were under investigation.
The FBI was among the agencies investigating the death.
