Woman dies after suffering serious burns in Century City apartment fire

CENTURY CITY, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A woman died Friday after she was seriously injured in an apartment fire in Century City.

The fire broke out just before 6 a.m. at the complex on W Bellwood Avenue.

The Los Angeles Police Department told Eyewitness News the 38-year-old died at the hospital after she suffered serious burns.

Firefighters said the fire was confined to a mattress in the apartment.

Police said the circumstances surrounding the woman's death appear to be suspicious, and the incident could possibly be an arson or a homicide case.



The LAPD's homicide unit has since taken over the investigation. So far, no arrests have been made.
