PANORAMA CITY, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- An allegedly armed woman was taken into custody Wednesday morning after threatening a security guard, leading to an hourslong standoff at a hospital in Panorama City.

The incident unfolded at Mission Community Hospital on Roscoe Boulevard around 12:45 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The reportedly 38-year-old woman was at the emergency room complaining of chest pain when she allegedly began making threats toward hospital staff.

Reports suggest that she pulled out a 4-inch blade and told the security guard that she was going to stab him. She then reportedly barricaded herself in a single occupancy bathroom inside the hospital.

Video from the scene shows several patrol units and SWAT surrounding the entrance to the emergency room.

Several hours later, police confirmed she was taken into custody. She was reviewed by hospital staff before being arrested.
