Woman steals Uber, crashes into parked cars in Long Beach

LONG BEACH, Calif. (KABC) -- A woman was arrested after crashing into parked cars with a stolen Uber in Long Beach, an incident that was caught on surveillance video.

The incident happened around 9:30 p.m. Sunday. Officers responded to a report of a car theft near 2nd Street and Ravenna Drive in the Naples area, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

Police say a woman got into the driver's seat of a waiting Uber and took off. She then crashed into a few parked cars a short distance away.

Neighbors said the crash sounded like an explosion.

The woman was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence and vehicle theft. She was also taken to the hospital in stable condition.



Eyewitness News reached out to Uber for comment but did not immediately hear back.
