The station will change into a satellite delivery service of the Educational Media Foundation (EMF).
Program Director Dave Beasing, who has been with the station from the start, said they have been told they have 30 to 45 days until operations get shut.
"We're in a position where we have 30 days to contribute to our legacy," Beasing said."It's been so much fun, and we've had a great run. It's bittersweet."
Entercom, the broadcasting company that owns The Sound, announced it was completing a merger deal with CBS Radio in February.
"We are particularly excited to see what God has in store for the people of Los Angeles, through our new station, Positive & Encouraging K-LOVE at 100.3 FM," EMF CEO Mike Novak said. "The people at Entercom have been a joy making this purchase possible."
The station is planning to remove their DJs as well. Beasing said they are planning to go out with one long party with special programming in its final weeks.
The Sound started in 2008. In addition to rock music, The Sound also carries Los Angeles Rams games.
