The fire broke out near Robert E. Lee Parkway and Golden Valley Road. The blaze scorched around 100 acres as firefighters worked to bring it under control.
By 2:10 p.m., the fire's forward progress had been stopped and it was 15 percent contained, according to Los Angeles County fire officials.
No structures were threatened.
Seven engines from the Los Angeles County Fire Department were on scene. The cause of the fire was still under investigation.
