Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputies are looking for the suspect in a warehouse near Alameda Street and Imperial Highway.
The department says the incident began with the pursuit of a stolen vehicle in the area that started around 6:30 p.m.
They say the suspect fired at deputies during the chase and they fired back. There were no immediate indications of injuries, but the suspect crashed and then fled into a nearby industrial area.
The Special Enforcement Bureau and a K9 unit were searching a warehouse in th earea.
AIR7 HD was above the scene as the investigation was unfolding and captured a white van sitting in the middle of a railroad track, surrounded by patrol vehicles. Authorities have shut down the area east of Alameda Street, between Alameda and Imperial Highway.
