Snow storm brings winter fun - and stuck cars - to SoCal mountain areas

WRIGHTWOOD, Calif. (KABC) -- The winter storm that dumped more than an inch of rain on parts of Los Angeles delivered a blanket of snowfall to mountain areas.

Snowfall totals ranged from 1-3 inches in areas such as Lockwood Valley, Cuddy Valley and Pinon Pines, and up to 12 inches at Mountain High.

Chain restrictions were in place for mountain roadways in Wrightwood and other areas.

In some cases, people had fun in the snow, making snowmen and snow angels and tossing snowballs at each other.

But that big accumulation at the Mountain High resort in the San Gabriel Mountains caught some people by surprise, including a couple whose car was stuck in the snow and had to get help from a friend to get home.

"It's nice to have the snow. I wasn't ready for it," said Mary White, an employee of Mountain High. "The car wasn't ready for it. We just want to get home."
