2.3 million Thanksgiving travelers expected to pass through LAX

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A record number of Thanksgiving travelers are expected to pass through Los Angeles International Airport during an eight-day period that began Friday, officials said.

Some 2.3 million people are anticipated at the facility through Nov. 28, making it the third-busiest airport in the nation amid the November holiday week.

LAX was predicted to be less crowded Saturday and Sunday, before droves of passengers begin descending on Westchester on Monday and beyond.

Standing outside a terminal Saturday, Kasey Milligan said she "booked a really early flight for this morning, to try to avoid stuff, and it's pretty ... relatively un-busy, so that's nice."

"But as it approaches Thanksgiving it's going to be pretty hectic," she added. "So it's a bit crazy but hopefully it won't be too bad."
