FORT WAYNE, N.J. (KABC) -- Many Toys R Us stores in California are among those offering deep discounts as the toy and baby products retail chain prepares to shutter about 20 percent of its locations nationwide.

The move follows a slump in the New Jersey-based company's holiday sales and a bankruptcy filing.

Meanwhile, Toys R Us officials say the privately held retailer is reinventing its brand and restructuring to ease its ballooning debt.
