UPLAND, Calif. (KABC) -- A massive pileup involving 10 vehicles has left at least one person dead and six people injured on the 10 Freeway in Upland Sunday night.

San Bernardino County Fire tweeted out that they responded to the crash at around 8:30 p.m.

Multiple cars required extrication and a child could be seen being taken away on a stretcher.

The crash impacted both sides of the 10 Freeway near Euclid Avenue, and traffic remains backed up as CHP investigated the incident

Although the cause of the crash has not been released, witnesses say a car was going at a high rate of speed.

"It was just a long screech and then impact. At first, I thought it may have been a big rig because it took so long for the screeching to stop, but apparently it was a high rate of speed, extremely high rate of speed," said John Willis.
