Sandra Pasillas was hit on Palmdale Road, just west of Emerald Road. It happened just after 8:30 p.m. Sunday night.
"She told me she was going to come back to help me with my kids," said Alma Pasillas about her mother. "And she didn't."

The family said Sandra Pasillas had epilepsy and was unable to drive. They said she would often walk to the store to purchase items needed for the family.
"Any time she sees any of her grandkids or nephews and feels like they're low on food or drink, she'll walk all the way to the store," said Alma Pasillas.
It was approximately a 3-mile walk from the family home to the nearest store. After purchasing items at the store, Sandra Pasillas was on the south side of Palmdale Road, walking eastward on the paved shoulder of the road, when she was struck from behind.
According to a San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department press release, the driver of a blue Ford F-150 truck swerved over the white fog line and struck Sandra Pasillas.
The driver, identified as 22-year-old Manuel Flores of Victorville, was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

"He took someone away from a lot of people who needed her," said Pasillas, who also said the stretch of road is dangerous. "It's extremely busy. Cars are going 60 to 70 miles an hour, and there's absolutely no lighting or sidewalks for anyone there."
The family has set up a GoFundMe account at https://www.gofundme.com/2cawx-grandma-funeral to raise funds to cover the cost of a funeral. They also have a message for the public.
"Don't drink and drive," said Alma Pasillas. "That's something that we all have to think about."
