Raymond Olivares was crossing Avalon Boulevard with his fiancée, Maria Rivas-Cruz, when he killed in February. Rivas-Cruz was also struck by the vehicle and continues to recover.

The couple, who had been together since they were 14, had planned to get married in December. They had already purchased a home together.
"These two cars came, and the first car was outbeating the other car and they struck them both," Cindi Enamorado, Olivares' sister, said in an interview last month. "My brother fell into the opposite side of the street, and was struck by another car."
Family members and friends gathered at a South Los Angeles home Sunday night for the candlelight vigil, where they expressed their heartbreak.
"He pushed me to become an educator," Olivares' sister Alison said, speaking at the memorial as she wiped away tears. "Now, I work to inspire a future."

The vigil was held on what would have been Olivares' 28th birthday.
A GoFundMe page has been created to help with Rivas-Cruz's recovery.
