Whittier murder-suicide: Elderly couple found dead in home after shooting, investigators say

WHITTIER, Calif. (KABC) -- A married couple in their 70s were found dead inside a home Thursday morning after a shooting that investigators have determined was a murder-suicide, authorities said.

The incident happened about 9:15 a.m. in the 11800 block of Shoemaker Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies responded to the residence and discovered the man and woman, who were pronounced dead at the scene. Their names were not immediately released.

"The suspect shot his wife and turned the gun on himself," the sheriff's department said in a statement.
