Investigation underway after human remains found in Malibu

MALIBU, Calif. (KABC) -- An investigation is underway after human remains were found in Malibu near an area that was affected by the Woolsey Fire.

Authorities said the remains were found Monday at the intersection of Latigo Canyon and Calicut roads.

A resident made the grim discovery and contacted authorities, who had to wait until Tuesday morning to begin the investigation.

The coroner is working to identify the remains.
