Magnitude 3.6 earthquake rattles desert communities near Yucca Valley

YUCCA VALLEY, Calif. (KABC) -- An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.6 struck near desert communities in southern San Bernardino County on Wednesday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The quake struck at 1:06 p.m., centered 13 miles north-northeast of Desert Hot Springs and 2.5 miles north-northwest of Yucca Valley

There were reports of shaking in nearby communities, including Twentynine Palms and Cathedral City.

There were no reports of serious damage.
