Lawmaker pushes "Caren Act" in SF to make racially-motivated 911 reports illegal

SAN FRANCISCO (KABC) -- A California lawmaker is proposing the "Caren Act," which would make racially-motivated 911 reports illegal.

It stands for "Caution Against Racially Exploitive Non-emergencies."

The fines would be severe for anyone who calls 911 to make a false report about someone because of their race.
