Echo Park Lake drowning victim identified as 23-year-old LA man

ECHO PARK, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Authorities have identified the man believed to have drowned in Echo Park Lake early Thursday morning.

Los Angeles resident German Alberto Cruz Lopez, 23, died when the boat that he and his cousin were riding capsized after 3 a.m.

Lopez fell into the water and did not know how to swim.

It's unclear how he gained access to the boat.

Divers recovered Lopez's body on Thursday afternoon.
