Police spotted the woman's vehicle on Firestone Boulevard near San Carlos Avenue around 9:30 a.m. The 2022 Toyota Corolla was reportedly wanted by Huntington Beach police for its involvement in an attempted murder, which happened earlier in the day.
The woman stopped in a driveway in the 8600 block of San Carlos Avenue. During the traffic stop, she reportedly pointed a handgun at an officer, and that's when police opened fire, shooting her.
The woman was pronounced dead at the hospital. She was identified as 29-year-old Lucero San Pedro-Castro of Baldwin Park.
According to investigators, two hours earlier, Pedro-Castro shot a man at a California Closets store near the intersection of Springdale Street and Skylab Road in Huntington Beach.

Details are limited, but according to Huntington Beach Police Department spokesperson Corbin Carson, the man was rushed to the hospital in an unknown condition.
A witness who spoke with Eyewitness News on Monday morning said they heard at least six gunshots.
It's unclear how the woman and the man are connected outside of the Huntington Beach shooting.
