HOLLYWOOD HILLS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Three people were found dead with gunshot wounds inside an apartment complex in Hollywood overnight, triggering a large law enforcement response.

Officers responded to the apartment in the 1900 block of Wilcox Avenue near Cahuenga Boulevard around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday to conduct a welfare check, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Once they were inside the apartment, officers found the bodies of three adult men who were reportedly shot to death. Their names and ages were not immediately released.

It's also unclear if they lived in the apartment. LAPD hasn't said much about the circumstances surrounding what happened inside the unit.

Neighbors in the area told Eyewitness News they heard what may have been gunshots over the weekend, maybe Saturday, but they didn't call police.

"Horrific, horrific, sad. It's scary. I literally got goose bumps the second I found out," said one neighbor who did not want to go on camera. "My neighbor, she was like, 'Help! Help! I live here.' And then I run downstairs, and I'm like, 'What happened?' She's like, 'Triple homicide.' And I'm like, 'Alright, so this is how I'm starting my morning.' Very sad, very sad."

Neighbors say a woman lives in the unit where the three bodies were found. Detectives say they are still working on making a connection between the three dead men and the woman who lives there.

"I know two, but there were a lot of people coming and going all the time. She would let homeless people shower and stuff," neighbor Jan Salzman said when asked how many people lived in the apartment.

One neighbor said he's seen police at the unit before.

"I've lived here for like six years. I do know in the past year, I've seen police called out to this unit a couple times," said neighbor Neil Schultz. "Whatever it's about, I don't know. I know about as much as you guys do."

Detectives remained at the scene Wednesday morning as they investigated the circumstances leading to the men's deaths.
