HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (KABC) -- A 3.1-magnitude earthquake rattled Huntington Beach early Monday morning, jolting many residents awake in nearby cities.
The U.S. Geological Survey reported the quake hit at 3:39 a.m. about 1 mile southwest of Bolsa Chica Beach and 3 miles from Huntington Beach. It was a little more than 8 miles deep.
Residents in Garden Grove, Santa Ana, Anaheim, Seal Beach, Costa Mesa, Westminster, Fountain Valley, Buena Park, Cypress, Long Beach and Cerritos reported feeling the temblor.

The quake comes not long after a 2.6-magnitude quake struck near the area Sunday around 11 p.m.
