Studio City school denies responsibility after student crushed to death in parking lot

STUDIO CITY, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A private school in Studio City is responding to a wrongful death lawsuit after a 15-year-old student was crushed to death in the school parking lot.

In court documents, Campbell Hall School denied responsibility for the teenager's death.

Last June, Cosmo Silverman died after being pinned between two vehicles during student pick-up.



Months later, his parents filed a lawsuit that holds the school responsible for "severe negligence and systemic failures in supervision and campus safety."



The lawsuit holds the Studio City school responsible for "severe negligence and systemic failures in supervision and campus safety."

The family's attorney said the school's parking lot design is partly to blame.

The family alleges the school's parking lot violated California Code of Regulations and that the school only implemented the required safety improvements after Cosmo's death.

Their lawsuit seeks damages for negligence, wrongful death and other related claims.
