The incident happened around 11:20 p.m. Tuesday on the 1200 block of Victoria Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Officers responded to the area after receiving a call of an assault with a deadly weapon.
Officers say they saw the man, identified as Eric Herrera, walking in the middle of the street holding a sword. He was taken into custody after officers deployed a Taser.
Police said there had been some kind of family dispute, but it's not clear what specifically led to the stabbing.
The 43-year-old woman, whose name has not been released, was taken to the hospital with multiple stab wounds and cuts. She is expected to be OK.
Herrera, 23, was booked for attempted murder and is being held on $100,000 bail.
